The Human Touch

Building human capital in a disruptive world

Increasingly, digitisation and exploding data consumption on the mobile are leaving their impact on the world. Almost every aspect of business is being converted to digital - distribution, payments, e-commerce, and even video and audio.

The media and entertainment industry hasn't been immune to this turbulence with legacy television broadcasters being bludgeoned by the deep-pocketed streamers. The TV networks are facing their own distribution challenges courtesy new pricing rules set it in place by the sector regulator.

This transformation is a double-edged sword and has brought with it opportunities and challenges in equal measure. Mergers, acquisitions, layoffs, and shutdowns are hitting the sector as organisations adapt to cope with the new paradigm. Executives, managers, and employees are now living in times of sustained and relentless pressure. Corporate life in a sense is being lived in a fishbowl.

The nature of employment is undergoing a fundamental change, be it in advertising, broadcasting or OTT or content creation, as companies, big and small, cope with the pangs of aggressive growth.

With organisations and employees redefining their priorities, the need of the hour is to strike a fine balance with an eye on the future.

The Media HR summit is an initiative to provide a platform for the industry to go into pause mode and reflect on the past, the present situation and the way forward.

Session 1: Responding to megatrends

India’s media and entertainment landscape is undergoing a radical change with rapid advancements in technology and alterations in distribution and monetization models. Additionally, how are corporations planning for succession in such a turbulent environment?

Session 3: Tackling the tech leap

Augmented reality (AR)/virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) are disrupting the status quo in more ways than one. These new technologies possess the power to deliver new consumer experiences and dimensions to revenue generation. While incorporating game changing tech is a temptation no company can and should resist, it could lead to a fundamental change in the nature of employment in the county. What does the future hold? And how are corporations gearing up to face this uncertain future?

Session 4: Data in decision making

The M&E industry has now well and truly set foot into the age of big data. Companies are now applying advanced analytics to verticals beyond sales and marketing.HR analytics has the potential to add value by not just streamlining existing processes but also handing companies a competitive edge by forming the core of business strategies. Session 5: Diversity, equity, and inclusion

Culture and management practices at work need constant and composite evolution. In fact, policies at organisations must serve as an exemplar for societies, which are often resistant to change. And how is this changing Media Inc?
